Fairfax Academy, Residency (Wolf Trap Teaching Artist – Education Grant)
Yauri will be a resident artist at the performing arts high school of Fairfax County, Fairfax Academy under a Wolf Trap Education Arts Grant awarded to the Teacher Artist and Director of Dance, Meredith Barnes of the Dance Division of Fairfax Academy. Ms Barnes has invited Yauri to work with and choreograph a new work with the programs students.

Dialectic Art: Untrapped (2022)
Choreographed by Yauri Dalencour with a 12-person cast, Dialectic Art: Untrapped is a dance and new media performance where dialogue between dancers and art pieces (conflict, opposition, discovery and unity) are used to explore visual culture, exhibition and visibility to show the use of personal voice, perspective, crafting narrative and deconstructing socially constructed norms and expectations.
Out of Body: Mine, Body and Those (2022)
Choreographed by Yauri Dalencour with a 12-person cast, Out of Body: Mine, Body and Those is a dance and new media performance where monologue and movement are used to explore the impact of inequality, discrimination, bias, the – “isms” and so forth on mental health and to show the importance of radical self care inside and outside of the body and what it means to step out of ones body and into someone else’s.

In honor of 1010Wins, Monique Blyther who was graced with the Telly Award for her journalism, she also honored an activist who she shot for the story with a Telly Award. Yauri performed in both their honor.

Juneteenth Performance @ Reston Festival
Playing the cello for nine years, Yauri has a deep connection to this instrument. She selected “Turn Your Eyes on Jesus”, a hymn, played by solo cellist and beatboxer for Pentonix, Kevin Olusola. This hymn was written by Helen Howarth Lemmel in 1922 based on Isiah 45:25 and Yauri danced in honor of those enslaved.
