In December of 2020, I applied to a choreographic residency with a Boston based dance company. Up until Covid, the works of its resident artists have debuted and premiered at one of many Boston theatres. This year, the concert will be like much of the world is online, virtual.
The theme for the residency that year was Embodying Liberation. I was one of eight artists selected and it was a heck of an experience! I had ten minutes perform my piece and instead of live or filming on location in Boston, I created my first Video Essay, moving from my short dance on video which I call Video Studies to fuller length video productions that to me reflect a mini documentary.
